The Beer Festivals

Come drink with your fellow Charlestonians

The Beer FestivalsIf you’re going to drink local, you may as well do it with thousands of friends and strangers at events centered around the art of the beer. And these upcoming events in Charleston are focused on presenting amazing beers in some pretty incredible places. Want to drink Palmetto and Commonhouse with your pup at The Joe? Who doesn’t! Want to spend an entire week submerging yourself in the Charleston beer scene? Of course you do! Take a look at some of the beer-centric events coming up in the Lowcountry that make it easy to Drink Local!

Bark for Your Brew: May 6, 2018, 2-4 @ The Joe

Tickets: $25
There’s a dog-friendly craft beer festival on the outfield grass of The Joe presented by Doolittle’s — and you and your pooch are invited! Sample local and national brews from Southern Eagle, including Palmetto, Commonhouse Aleworks, 10 Barrel, Elysian and more, and participate in some doggone awesome competitions that include a tail wagging contest for pets and owners as well as a howling contest (pups only).

Charleston Beer Garden: May 19, 2018, 12-7, @ Patriot’s Point

Tickets only $25 (advance), $50 for VIP, $75 for Brew Pass
You know spring has arrived when you find yourself at Patriot’s Point carrying your sampling glass around to over 30 different breweries at the Charleston Beer Garden. All of these breweries are at the least local-ish, with 15 participating breweries coming from the Lowcountry and the rest from North Carolina and Tennessee. You know that you may have sampled just the right amount of brews when you decide to participate in the Pony Hops competition, a race in which you bounce down the track on an inflatable horse. Also available are a cornhole tournament, arm wrestling matches, a keg tossing competition and over a dozen food trucks!

Ballpark Festival of Beers: August 18, 2018, @ The Joe

Tickets: $30, $60 VIP
If you’re going to do one beer festival in Charleston this summer, this is it. There’s over 100 local beers (and a smattering of regional and national brews), food trucks, local artisans, live music, and general feeling of awesomeness as you sample the best Charleston has to offer. The Joe does a good job of limiting ticket numbers so that the lines aren’t too long for your beer samples (18 x 5 oz. pours per person!) and local breweries always do a great job of bringing their best beers for you to try.

Charleston Beer Week: September 8-15, 2018, Tons of Locations

Tickets vary (50+ different events)
Charleston Beer Week is the most sacred of all of the weeks on the Charleston beer calendar. There are innumerable beer releases, an incredible number of beer dinners where local breweries collaborate with local chefs to bring you meals that will have you dreaming of more, music events, fundraisers, and so much more. The calendar for this event won’t be out until later in the summer, but you can rest assured that the Ale Trail will keep you up to date on the events as they are announced. With so many events there is truly something for everyone.
